The complex of geological, mineralogical-geochemical and technological studies conducted on the slag dump of the Ni-factory made it possible to characterize the distribution of nonferrous and noble metals in the waste slag, as well as to identify the forms of finding Cu, Ni, Co, platinum-group elements, Ag and Au. The level of noble metals contents in slag dumps and their resources allow talking about metallurgical waste slag as a potential feedstock for Ni, Cu, Co and platinum.
The environmental impact of the slag disposal of the Ni-factory and the production of granulated slag on the environment is also estimated.
